For the kids...

I've been thinking lately about the need for a kids' table at my wedding this fall. I've seen this idea here and there on a few blogs and the more I think about it the more I want to come up with some fun activities for the kids who will be attending my wedding. They range in age from about 4 to 13 so this could be tough figuring out something fun for all ages?

Has anyone set up a kids' table at a party or wedding before? Do you have any helpful hints?

Here are a few items on my list for the kid's table...

.

1. Crayons/Coloring Book

2. Candy

3. Games (but I have no idea what kind of games?)

4. Disposable Camera (with maybe a list of photos for them to capture?)

.

I think adding this element is just another way to take good care of your guests... which to me is one of the most important parts of throwing a party!

Yard Sale Madness

Well, we did it...we had a successful yard sale!! I had no idea what to expect, but my fiance and I survived it...got rid of a lot of junk...and made some $$ (which was icing on the cake)! If you are thinking about having a yard sale, here are a couple of lessons I learned through the whole process...

.

1. Take the time to prepare.

2. Never underestimate what will sell (that nasty futon from college...yep...SOLD!).

3. Set up early...people will begin to arrive before your yard sale officially starts.

4. Be prepared to stay late. We had people stopping by 2 hours after the sale was "officially" over.

5. Don't lose hope. We had a few big items left near the end that we didn't think were going to sell, but by the end of the day all of them were gone.

Unforunately, I was too busy packing up what was leftover to take to Good Will to show you an after photo...But here is a photo of two little helpers who stopped by near the end to see their first yard sale!

Don't miss this...

The Eclectic Owl is having this fabulous Dwell giveaway(4 bird place mats)....I just can't resist anything that is Dwell!! I can already picture myself entertaining friends on my back deck for dinner and using these fabulous bird place mats. Now why didn't I think of this!

I can't get over these ADORABLE save the date photos!! I'm kicking myself wishing I had thought of something creative like this for my save the date. BUT, I have to remind myself that my dog (well really my fiance's dog) would never sit still to pose for the camera. She is one yellow monster that would rather be chasing balls then taking pictures!

The Inspiration...

Okay, so apparently I'm pretty dense when it comes to computers because resizing this inspiration board so that it would fit on my blog was much easier than I thought! Sorry for the temporary brain lapse...you would think it was Monday wouldn't you? So, on to the inspiration! I really love how this board came together...there were just a few items that I just had to work in

1) Oysters (Charlotte is from Charleston and will be getting married there so it only seemed fitting to include raw oysters!)

2)Bagpipes (Charlotte's father's lineage traces back to Scottland, so of course a bagpiper was a must)

3)Champagne (One of Charlotte's favorite drinks and the perfect compliment to the date of her wedding 1.1.11 - love the symmetry of that!)

.... and the rest just fell into place....

A January Wedding

My friend Charlotte is getting married on New Year's Day, and of course once I heard the news I was dying to whip up an inspiration board for her wedding. To get started, I asked her if she had thought about a color scheme and she told me she was leaning towards the combination of gold and dusty rose. I immediately ran to my inspiration file because I knew I had an image that incorporated those colors. I emailed her the picture below to see what she thought of me building her wedding inspiration board around it, and funnily enough she told me that was the exact image that had given her the idea for her color scheme!

So, I was hoping to post the inspiration board, but the right half is getting cut off and I am having serious trouble getting the board resized! Stay tuned....I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can get it up this afternoon!
