Nico and LaLa

My good friend in Nashville introduced me to the invitation designers Nicole and Lauren almost a year ago when they designed a super cute invitation for her book release party. At the time Nico and LaLa were just putting together a web site and didn't even have a blog, but this has changed! You must check out their web site...complete with a photo gallery of samples of their work... and their blog! I LOVE the fact that these girls followed and dream and made it happen...their work is super swanky, or as I would say...so chic :)! Their work spans from weddings to baby showers to birthdays and even includes event branding. Hurry and check them out here!

Burlap

I had a friend call me to borrow my burlap table cloth for a party she is hosting this weekend, and it got me to thinking how much I LOVE burlap. You know I have an obsession for all things rustic, and burlap, well that definitely fits in to "all things rustic!" But what I love most about burlap is that it can be so versatile. I've used it at summer parties and fall parties...and as you see below depending on what you pair it with, it can be masculine or feminine...

Keep Warm

Ok, I know it feels like 100 degrees outside these days and the last thing you are thinking about is keeping warm...BUT, I know there are some fall/winter brides out there who are in full planning mode for their upcoming weddings(which could have very cool temperatures). I'm just about 4 months away from my big day and have recently gotten a little overwhelmed with my "To Do" list! I am a sucker for little details, and have been brainstorming on ways to keep my guests comfortable and happy. Since my wedding is in November there is a chance it could get a little chilly (even though its in the South). I've seen baskets of pashminas and blankets at weddings, but never thought that I could spare the extra expense until I saw this DIY project on Style Me Pretty. The blankets are from Ikea and only cost $3.99!! Add the cute tag and ribbon.... and voila, you've got an adorable way to show your guests you care if they get a little chilly. This is definitely going into my wedding file!

Today my blog is one!! I can't believe I have been blogging for over a year now. I have loved discovering blogs about weddings and events, and having so.chic as an outlet to write about the different styles that make me giddy! Back to Reality...

I hope everyone had a fun and festive July 4th! I definitely ate way too much over the weekend...not only did we have a wedding shower, but we celebrated my sister's birthday and my nephew's birthday! Between the chocolate cupcakes (with cream cheese filling), brownies, red velvet cake and homemade ice cream, I think I had more than my share of sweets! I guess the proverbial diet starts back today. Why is it so tough to come back to reality??
