OMG....I am LOVING this banner program!!! My obsession for banners and bunting runs deep these days.  I just can't get over how gosh darn adorable this idea is! I'm thinking if I had thrown my hubby an official birthday party this would have been the perfect invitation to go with my cake bunting! I guess I will just have to store this in my inspiration file for next year...

My Kind of Peeps

I am not a huge fan of the marshmellow peeps. Don't get me wrong, I think they are adorable, just not that tasty. So, when I saw these cookie peeps by Sweet Sugar Belle, I thought...now these are my kind of peeps! I would definitely serve these as a sweet treat on Easter....

My DIY Cake Bunting...

Drumroll please.......

 

So, I tackled the cake and the cake bunting project this weekend and took the above photo....what do you think?? The cake turned out delicious!!! And, the bunting, well I think it turned out pretty cute. I should have probably done two levels of bunting like the pictures I posted last week, but I just completely forgot! Maybe next time....

Cake Bunting Obsession and a Birthday

Today is my hubby's birthday, and a couple of weeks ago I got a request from him to make the yummy chocolate cake I baked for my dad's birthday. Of course I said yes, so cakes have been dancing in my head the last few days. Since it is his birthday, I really want to dress the cake up a little bit and lately I've become obsessed with the cake bunting I have seen all over the blogosphere.

I can't sew so was a little worried about how I was going to accomplish this bunting project, but then I saw this DIY break down on Somewhere Splendid and I knew I would be able to get this done!!

Luckily my hubby agreed that it would be best to make the cake this weekend. I was a little concerned I wouldn't be able to pull off working full time, making a delicious dinner and a homemade cake! I will be sure to post pictures of how it all turns out!!

Babies, Babies, Babies....

Lots of my friends are expecting babies this year, so of course baby showers have been on my mind lately. I came across these adorable cookies that would be perfect for a shower for a baby boy! What little boy doesn't grow up loving trains?? I love the teal and red color combo...it definitely gives the classic blue baby shower color scheme a modern look!

I have always been a BIG fan of Diane Von Furstenberg's clothing line (even though most of it is out of my price range). So of course I was so excited to learn that she now has a home collection as well! Here are a few pieces I am loving....

I have always been (and probably will always be) pretty traditional when it comes to decorating or collecting entertaining pieces, but I really need to break out of my conservative shell and add some vibrant statement making pieces to my collection. You only live once....right?

Big News....and Chic Links

Ok, so not only is this post a day late, but I am sure you have noticed my lack of blogging over the last few weeks, and I promise I have a good excuse!! Yes, I admit I have been a total blog slacker! The last few months I have been on a job search and in the last few weeks lots of good things have happened! I got a new job...well, two new jobs to be exact.  I know....call me crazy, but I am very excited about BOTH of them. My full time job is with Celebrate magazine....its all about parties and entertaining... could it be more perfect for me?? I feel like I get to live my passion every day and for that I am so thankful! And, my second job you ask? I am officially a Stella and Dot stylist! Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler...

It's time to break out the King Cakes and celebrate Fat Tuesday!! I hope everyone has a very Happy Mardi Gras! I wish I was down in my hometown of Mobile celebrating. Perhaps I will just have a glass of wine and some King Cake to transport me mentally down to where all the fun is taking place. I think next year I need to plan a Mardi Gras party for all my friends!! I mean if you can't go to where the festivities are taking place, you might as well bring them to you!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these bright and festive arrangements! This image has me longing for summer and outdoor parties.  I'm hopeful that spring, and warmer weather is just around the corner. Living in the deep south, I always take the opportunity to entertain outdoors during the pleasant spring months because before you know it the hot humid days of summer swoop in.

Lantern Love

If you have been reading my blog for awhile now, you know that I've been in the process of redecorating my husband's house. We've been married for 3 months, so I guess I should have the hang of saying "our" house by now! One of the things I am DYING to replace is the awful chandelier in our dining room. It just does nothing for the space...but, maybe take it down a notch in looks. I have had my heart set on finding a lantern, and when my friend Marianne sent this photo to me, I totally fell in love!

Now if only I could get my husband to fall in love with that price tag!
