Calling all brides...and wives!!

.
I need your help!!! I am registering this weekend at Macy's and I have NO idea what I am doing! I've started to look online at things that my fiance and I need, but then I seem to get overwhelmed with all my wants! So, I need your advice. Is there something you didn't register for that you wish you had?? Or, is there something you registered for that you LOVE and use all the time?? Should I prepare myself for a fight to break out in Macy's with my fiance if we don't like the same things??
.
Please please please leave me a comment :)

  1. Be sure to register for really good cookware! Also, I had originally registered for really expensive every day china (i.e. Vietri in a very ornate pattern). After input from friends and family, I picked something less expensive w/ the same look and I got way more of it than if I had kept the Vietri (b/c it's so expensive). You think "oh, I'll be so careful" but that wears off after 6 months and you start finding chipped up dishes all the time.

    Hope this helps!

  2. from Meredith...
Get everyday china you LOVE b/c it's just that...everyday. And make sure it's safe for dishwasher, oven, microwave, etc. Spend your money on nice cookware (we got All Clad and I'm so glad we did!) And register at places you'd like to have credit, because you will have a lot after all is said and done. Good luck! (Ryan only lasted one day with me, and I did the rest myself.)

  3. I say register for the wants instead of the needs! I wish I weren't so practical.

Years from now, it will be much easier to get away with buying a new skillet than buying pretty serving pieces...

  4. I would say leave the fiance at home! I think that's what most ppl do and it goes best that way. Michael didn't register with me.

I'll have to think on this one- what I would do differently.... I'll email you tomorrow!

  5. I say...

We had to move two times before we knew we would be settled after the wedding (due to changing cities and a temporary apartment while house hunting). So, I took the stress out of registering by not worrying about what I registered for, returned everything for store credit once I received it, and when we moved into our house, I used my store credit to pick out everything we needed. So much better than moving everything twice!!

  6. Register for your wants, don't be entirely practical. At what other time in your life do you receive hundreds of gifts? My spouse was NOT into registering. But, you can register online at many locations. It was fun for me to "shop" online and add the item to our registry. Every bride I have spoken with said they attempted registering with spouse at first location, he was NOT interested, so they completed registering on their own and enjoyed it much more.
