Keep Warm

Ok, I know it feels like 100 degrees outside these days and the last thing you are thinking about is keeping warm...BUT, I know there are some fall/winter brides out there who are in full planning mode for their upcoming weddings(which could have very cool temperatures). I'm just about 4 months away from my big day and have recently gotten a little overwhelmed with my "To Do" list! I am a sucker for little details, and have been brainstorming on ways to keep my guests comfortable and happy. Since my wedding is in November there is a chance it could get a little chilly (even though its in the South). I've seen baskets of pashminas and blankets at weddings, but never thought that I could spare the extra expense until I saw this DIY project on Style Me Pretty. The blankets are from Ikea and only cost $3.99!! Add the cute tag and ribbon.... and voila, you've got an adorable way to show your guests you care if they get a little chilly. This is definitely going into my wedding file!

Today my blog is one!! I can't believe I have been blogging for over a year now. I have loved discovering blogs about weddings and events, and having so.chic as an outlet to write about the different styles that make me giddy! My hope is that I have provided you with some inspiration along the way for the party planner in you...

Back to Reality...

I hope everyone had a fun and festive July 4th! I definitely ate way too much over the weekend...not only did we have a wedding shower, but we celebrated my sister's birthday and my nephew's birthday! Between the chocolate cupcakes (with cream cheese filling), brownies, red velvet cake and homemade ice cream, I think I had more than my share of sweets! I guess the proverbial diet starts back today. Why is it so tough to come back to reality??

Mason Jar Heaven

Who says you can't make a table look AMAZING without flowers!??! I LOVE this fabulous arrangement of varying sizes of mason jars down the center aisle of the table. The candlelight glow is simply gorgeous...and there isn't even a flower in sight. This is the perfect way to make a dramatic statement on your table. With my obsession over mason jars and candles, this table has my heart skipping a beat!

Get in the holiday spirit...

I don't know about you, but I am so ready for a long holiday weekend!! This past Saturday, I planned a seated dinner for 500 people and I am completely wiped out. Luckily I am taking off work on Thursday for a nice long relaxing weekend. When I think about the Fourth of July, a barbeque immediately comes to my mind. I envision hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ sandwiches, potato salad, corn...and red velvet cupcakes! You know how much I love cupcakes, I will fit them in to just about any party. But, I have to say, red velvet would be perfect for a patriotic holiday...and a little flag on top is icing on the cake!

A friend introduced me to the online shop Emersonmade and I immediately fell in LOVE with their adorable clutches!

Package....

A package arrived for me last week and if you are anything like me, you get super giddy to see a package on your front steps. Especially one that is not something you ordered online, but a surprise! My sweet friend Kate sent me a Lands' End Canvas Tote (which I desperately needed) complete with my NEW monogram. I LOVE it!! Its the perfect bag for weekend trips...I can't wait to use it all summer on my travels. Inside the bag there are extra pockets and a hook...not sure what that is for, but I'm sure it will come in handy...
